How to Enjoy the Hinase Kaki-fes

  • OYSTER

Super popular "raw rock oysters." And, a heaping serving of oyster galore.

A seafood feast that says, “We've got it all!” Featuring an array of Hinase oyster dishes! From the ever-popular Hinase rock oysters to oyster kamameshi, oyster ramen, kakio ko (oyster okonomiyaki), fried oysters, and grilled oysters with butter, you can enjoy everything from classic dishes to creative new ones. Additionally, you can savor seasonal fish dishes and tastes from popular local restaurants. Experience a "seafood bonanza" unique to Hinase!
  • Kakioko

    Captain Kaki-oko's Special Treat: Bite-Sized Kaki-oko!

As a treat for all event attendees, we're giving away our proud local specialty, “Kakio-ko,” on a first-come, first-served basis to 200 people! Raffle tickets will be distributed from 9:30 AM, 10:30 AM, 11:30 AM, and 12:30 PM, with 50 tickets available at each time slot. • Hinase Fish

    Fish Aquarium

The oyster festival isn't just about eating!
At the popular "Fish Aquarium" for children, you can get up close and personal with lively fish that have grown in the abundant seas of Nishi. See what the fish that usually appear on your dinner table look like and how they swim.
Seeing, touching, and feeling experiences are the ultimate adventures for children and provide an opportunity for "food education" to understand the importance of food.
Please feel the richness of Nisai's ocean for yourself.
  • BIZENMARU

    Bizenmaru tour also held!

Bizen City welcomes an unprecedentedly luxurious tourist boat, the "Bizen Maru"! The design was handled by Eiji Mitooka, known for the luxurious sleeper train "Seven Stars in Kyushu." It's a modern update of the "Kitamaebune" that was active during the Edo period! Step inside and... the rest is a surprise to be enjoyed at the Oyster Festival!
  • Bizen ware Candle

    Bizen ware Candle Workshop

Let's make Bizen ware using a potter's wheel!! After firing, the Bizen ware we make will be displayed at the "Hinase Lantern Night Market" on September 6th (Sunday), with LED lights inside, to decorate the event!
After the event concludes, we will send Bizen pottery back to our customers at a later date, allowing them to use it daily as cups or soba cups. ☺️
Children are welcome to join as Bizen ware artists and staff will provide support.
We look forward to everyone's participation! ✨

Nissay Oyster Festival, which started from scratch in 2024.
Following its highly successful debut in July 2024, the event will be held three times annually starting in 2025. The quality of food, refined with each iteration, and the enthusiasm of the crowds filling the venue have now become a new, beloved tradition in Nissei.
  1. July 2024: The inaugural event

The energy generated at this first event, along with the voices of "It was delicious!" and "I want to come again!" from our visitors, have become the driving force to launch the "Kaki Fes" into its next phase, with events in 2025 and beyond.
    2024
  2. In 2025, it will be held three times a year: April 6th and October. Diverse promotion of Bizen's charm.

Leveraging our experiences from 2024, we further strengthened our operational structure. By actively incorporating DX and utilizing web and social media for information dissemination, we welcomed an even larger number of visitors from within and outside the prefecture. The events held in April and June were also great successes, selling out completely.

  3. Autumn 2025: The Kakiori Feast "Kakkoopuri" Shocks
The first autumn event, which heated up Nissei without waiting for winter.

In October 2025, we held the "Autumn Oyster Festival" to herald the start of the kaki season. This was a new challenge to extend the excitement of winter into autumn and promote the charm of Nissei throughout the year. It was a great success, with a full house, featuring band performances, plenty of oyster gourmet dishes, and a bingo tournament.
